Did the Holy Prophet (sws) appoint a full time imam to run each mosque during his lifetime? If not, when was the imamat institution introduced? Outside of prayer times, were the mosques used as a civil secretariat or a qadi court to dispense justice?
My question is regarding building mosques on graves. Verse 21 of Sura al-Kahf says: Behold, they dispute among themselves as to their affair. Some said: Construct a building over them. Their Lord knows best about them. Those who prevailed over their affair said: Let us surely build a place of worship over them. (Q 18:21)
Does this ayah, tells us that we can build the mosque on graves of pious people?
Is it appropriate to ask an imam about his "creed/belief" to determine if one should follow him in congregational prayer?

We have a system of offering the Zuhr and Asr prayers by laying down prayer mats (saff) in the hall and lobby, these saffs are later folded and normal people traffic goes on in this hall and lobby. We also hold Jumma gongregation on Friday in the same manner. It has been suggested that Jumma prayers cannot be offered unless there is a regular mosque and…
In the mosque of the Prophet (sws) in Madina they mark the area for a person who sits in I‘tkaf and forbid the people from crossing that mark. You should not cross that particular area when you sit in I‘tkaf and in that period we cannot take shower also and change our cloths, is that right or not. During the sitting can we change our cloths and take shower to clean ourselves?

While reading about Mosques, I found two different names for Mosques - Masjid and Jami‘. What is the difference between the names? Is one of these types of Mosque "better" or "more important" than the other type? If so; what makes them more important? Are they representative of different schism in Islam, for instance Sunni and Shia names?

We already have a Mosque but this new mosque is being built because the old mosque is mainly run by Arabs and apparently is not big enough. Now for fundraising the Imam chooses several Ramadan nights and especially 27 Ramadan. A lot of people come to pray tarawih prayer but he holds tarawihs until after his…
We have converted a house into a place to pray. There are no other rooms. I want to know if it is forbidden to use this room for teaching martial arts (self-defense) to children or adults. If you believe that it can be then please support your answer with proper references from the basic sources of religious knowledge in Islam, the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
