Life In Hell And Paradise

I am reading the English translation of the Quran by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. My copy also contains his notes on the passages. He writes under Q 10:45 that we will recognize each other on Judgment Day so we know that justice is served and that Allah served righteousness to those according to their deeds on earth.

When Judgment is passed and we (InshaAllah) are granted eternity in Jannah, will our memories of those doomed for the fire remain with us? Seems a hard thing to consume knowing that some on earth that were not evil but just not believers and we were friends with are in eternal agony. Could you explain in your best opinion of this?

Many Wives In Paradise

I have a question regarding the surah "Smoke". Something disturbed me and I thought I really ought to seek clarification:

Within the last few lines of the surah a reference is made to how those who attain Paradise will be paired off with a "beautiful woman". My husband explains every man is married off to this beautiful woman upon entering Paradise as an "additional reward" - and this woman is in addition to his collecting his "earthly" wife as well, should she also attain Paradise.

This seems a little odd to me. I know we should not question God's Word, and I know feelings such as jealousy and insecurity shouldn't exist in Heaven. However, why is it that a woman would work and focus so hard on attaining Paradise in the afterlife and in addition to the toil and effort of this life, be granted Paradise by God's mercy only then to see her husband paired off with additional women as though he could have fared without his initial wife entirely, forever? I had always thought if both spouses made it to Heaven, then they we there together, just the two, with their family forever. Regardless, I know the Hellfire is no option, no matter what.

Is it blasphemous of me to even question this? I guess I couldn't bear the idea of my husband being with another woman even in Paradise.

Untimely Deaths

My mother passed away in March 2010 in a road accident. I my father suffered a heart attack and departed me in May 2011. These incidents have left me a bitter victim of hopeless, disparity and disappointment. I find myself always praying to God to end my life as soon as possible. My question from you is: Isn’t it injustice from God to take the parents from children at a time when they have grown up? The parents have spent all their pleasures and income on their children for these days. Why do they depart when they should be reaping the benefit of their labor and love? Can I meet my parents in the next world?

Purpose Of Human Life

I am a student of physics at the University of Vienna. As you know that in the West there is a misunderstanding about the Islamic teachings and practices, which puts a common Muslim in conflict with his religion. Therefore my question to you is: why we are meant to go to Paradise or Hell after the death. Is the existence of Paradise and Hell only a projection and excuse of the human mind to make this world seem less important? For instance we are promised to get 70 Virgins and alcohol in Paradise and in this world we have to stay away from prohibited sexual relations and alcohol. Is it not a kind of double standard? Why does someone for example an atheist, a man who does not believe in God or at least in a personal god must go to Hell? Does my life only means only to go to Hell or Paradise after death? What do you think of Karl Marx who said “Religion is only an opium of the people". I would be very pleased and thankful to you for your guidance.

Deliverance Of A Non-Muslim

A verse from Surah al-Maidah reads: "Those who believe (in the Qur’ān), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." I heard a religious scholar saying that whoever does not follow the Shariah of Muhammad (sws) will be thrown into Hell. His good deeds will be of no avail to him. Please explain.
