Role Of Clerics In Conduct Of Nikah

I wanted to ask what is the role of clerics in nikah because no verse of the Quran is necessary to be recited in the ceremony. Yet we see even the People of the Book like Christians and Jews make rabbis and fathers present in a marriage. It is just a tradition or is it religious obligation? I heard in one of Javed Ghamidi Sahib’s lectures that nikah is acceptance of both parties. So why do we call clerics, fathers and rabbis to conduct the nikah?

Parental Approval For Marrying A Convert

One female accpeted islam by seeking certain religious knowledge from me. After few years we planned to marry each other. Her non-Muslim parents are opposing. My parents are too much opposing. This marriage is the only scope for her to live as a Muslim and both of us wish to live together in the path of Allah. After knowing a female for six years, if my parents are not allowing to marry a converted Muslim, who will marry. Please provide your answer in the light of Islam. I want to make my parents comprehend. Is it sinful to disobey parents in this issue? If my parents object what can I do. Already we have postponed our marriage due to these issues for two years. More than a year or two we can’t wait also. If my parents accept and her parents rejet what can be done, within the light of Islam. Please provide your answer in the light provided by the Prophet (sws).

Marrying A Woman Of Different Religion Denomination

I have a very personnel question regarding my marriage. I have promised a girl to marry her but her family members are very irrational (personal opinion) orthodox bralevi. On the other hand my family members are relatively rationale. My brother says that the girl must have the same belief as their parents. Till then I should not go ahead with this relation. Today I am in an ambivalent condition. If I get married to her I will lose the basic tradition of my family and its belief and of course it will set not a very good example for the next generation. On the other hand, if I withdraw from it I myself consider it very immoral and this will affect the life of the girl more than it can affect mine. Please guide me.

Love Marriage In Islam

I am in love with a religious Muslim girl. I want to marry her. She is also in love with me. It is not just love but we understand each other very well. I am 24 years and she is also mature. I did my master in UK and I can understand my good and bad.

The problem is that my father does not agree with me in this matter. His reservations are that the girl is from out of the family. Her parents are also resisting. I like that girl because she is religious, truthful and has a good character. I believe I can find a girl more beautiful than her but not as religious and faithful. If I am not able to marry her I strongly believe that I would never be able to marry in my whole life.
I have been trying to persuade my father for the last two years. I know Islam does not stop me from marrying her. I need to know if a father has a right to suppress his children like me. I am so tense and frustrated thinking that the parents of that girl have a right to force her into marrying a boy which she does not like. This is injustice. I cannot accept this. Please help me in this regard.

Secret Marriages

I wanted to know the Islamic stance on court marriages and secret marriages. Besides, how would you comment on a marriage concluded:

1. with free mutual consent of both parties

2. in the presence of two male witnesses

3. by offer and acceptance BUT a. without the permission of Guardian and b. with the intention of keeping the marriage secret until the man becomes financially sound.

Please also note that both of the spouses keep their marriage secret because they cannot get married for 2 or 3 years and they often meet each other. So in order not to be sinful, they enter into nikah. Please be specific regarding the hukm (ruling) whether it is Halal, Haram, Batil, Fasid, Makrooh.

Procedure Of Nikah

Why is the procedure of nikah not available on any Islamic site including yours? What is the procedure of nikah point by point in detail? Can a father offer nikah of her daughter instead of a religious cleric in the presence of nikah forms? Is it necessary to ask the bride and the groom verbally their consent in presence of participants? Is it important to announce the amount of mahr? Is it important to recite a few verses from Surah al-Nisaa? If yes then how many verses must be recited? If instead of Surah al-Nisaa some other part of the Book of God, for example Surah al-Fatihah is recited shall the nikah be valid? How did the Messenger of God (sws) conduct nikah of the Companions?
