The Poor And The Duty To Offer Hajj?

Hajj has been prescribed for every Muslim who is financially well-off and physically fit to undertake the journey, meet the financial costs and be able to perform the rituals. It is a common observation that majority of the people going for Hajj come from the lower income groups and they bear lot many hardships in raising money for the Hajj. But out of sheer reverence they sacrifice their primal needs at the altar of religious devotion. Do you think that such people who have to struggle to earn their livelihood, better not be allowed to perform Hajj? Is it permissible for an Islamic government to draft a Hajj Policy (as drafted by the Pakistani government regularly) that would only allow people with fiscal soundness to perform hajj? e.g only those would be allowed who earn, lets suppose, 100,000Rs annually or more. Will such a restriction be in accordance with Islam?

Umrah By A Nursing Mother

Two years ago I intended to go for umrah. Now I am married and a mother of one-year old baby by the grace of ALLAH and can afford easily all expenditures of umrah. The problem however is that my baby is just one-year old and is on my breast feed. It would be difficult for me to leave her behind for 15 days. It would also not so easy for me to take her with me because I want to pay full attention to worship rituals during my stay in Saudi Arab. I am in a great confusion on this matter. Kindly give me a right guideline in this matter in the light of Islamic Sharī'ah.

Compensation For Falling Hair In Hajj

1. Sometimes hairs of a pilgrim fall while he is in the 'ihram'. Does a pilgrim have to offer some compensation for that? It is to be noted that this guidance is required under specific case when hair fall due to a disease. When the pilgrim does 'masah (wiping head in wudu) one or two hair stick in the hand.

2. I also want to learn whether compensation for any shortcoming during the Umra can be made outside the boundaries of 'the Haram'?

Fake Certificates For Traveling Alone For Hajj

There is a general tendency nowadays to form groups by some agents for ‘Umrah. The problem with this method of ‘Umrah is that some of the ladies also want to perform ‘Umrah but they do not have a Mahram to accompany them. In the process, what the agents do is to declare some males in the group as Mahram of these ladies so that the official requirement is fulfilled. I wanted to know whether this kind of subterfuge is allowable in Islam. A good aspect of forming these groups could be that these groups consist of subgroups of ladies who then perform the ‘Umrah rituals quite satisfactorily and independently, which serve the real purpose of the company of a Mahram.

Queries Regarding Salah

I want to ask you few questions about the Ṣalāh:

1. Living in Saudi Arabia, I saw that most of the Saudis do not have wuḍū and just start offering the ṣalāh. A few days ago I noticed that our imām did the same. I feel he was not in the proper state of purification obtained by performing wuḍū. I, however, offered the ṣalāh. Please tell me if I did right or wrong?
2. Sometimes when I am happy and I start offering the ṣalāh as soon as I enter the time to offer the Prayer a lot of things run in my heart and mind. I forget Allah and things pop up and run in my mind. What should I do?
3. I have tried my level best in the ṣalāh and also socially but sometimes when I am with my friend I feel to be a bad boy. But when I am alone or moving somewhere durūd (prayer formulas for seeking blessing for the Prophet sws) fills my heart and wets my tongue.
4. I am going to offer ‘umrah tomorrow. Please tell me the right way to pray to God about our tension and, as you know, the problems in everyday life.
