The library of al-Mawrid was set up in 1991. Its purpose is to facilitate academic and research work taken up by the researchers and scholars of the foundation. Needless to say that the core of the foundation is its research Ḥadīth Studies, projects on Qur’ān Studies, Sharī‘ah Studies, and Bible Studies. In order to carry out this research, the academic staff working in the foundation heavily relies on its research library. It has about twelve thousand books in Arabic, Persian, English and Urdu. Efforts have been made to make available all sources books on Islamic studies. For this purpose, the library administration remains in contact with some reputed book stores and publishers of the world.
The library books have been digitally catalogued according to the international decimal standard. These books can also be accessed online at
Besides books, the library also maintains year-books of about 50 academic periodicals – both national and international. Important articles of various journals are photocopied and indexed for academic use.
A CD/DVD library on Islamic research software is also proposed to be added to the library in the near future.
Although the library is primarily meant for the scholars of the foundation, visiting scholars/students are also allowed by special permission to benefit from the library.
The library is managed by a committee of technical and academic staff.
The Library Committee welcomes suggestions and contributions by members and friends of al-Mawrid as well as others to realize its plans to upgrade this library to international levels of academic excellence in Islamic sciences and related areas.
